Will we be hit by a huge asteroid?

Well, for few days, we’re hearing that a huge asteroid will hit us at the end of April. Most probably 29th April, 2020. And eventually it’ll end the human civilization. Now it’s time to find out whether the news is true or false.

1998 OR2 is the asteroid that is "about" to hit the earth. It is 4.1 km in diameter. Now if it really hits the earth, there will be tremendous loss of life. In the very moment, there is a question comes in everyone’s mind. Will the asteroid really hit the earth? The answer is a big “NO”. It won’t hit the earth. Now as we know that the asteroid won’t hit the earth, let’s know why.

1998 OR2 was discovered  in 1998 at Haleakala Observatory, Hawaii. Researchers found out that this asteroid will fly by the Earth next month. Don't worry, it's not gonna hit the Earth. Having a diameter of 4 kilometer, makes it a huge one. On 29th April, asteroid 1998 OR2  will pass the Earth at a distance of 0.04204 AU (1 AU = Distance between the Sun and the Earth). That is 6.3 million kilometers! This distance is such huge that it is 16.3606 times of the distance between the Earth and the Moon(the distance between the Earth and the Moon is 384400 kilometer). It's luminosity at that time will be +15.8. Moreover, the perihelion distance of the asteroid is 1.0179 AU. That means the asteroid is 0.0179 AU away from the Earth. It'll be impossible the asteroid to be seen by naked eyes that day, let alone be hit by it. And therefore, there is no chance our Earth to be destroyed by the asteroid 1998 OR2.

You might be asking, will it come closer to Earth again? Well, the answer is "YES". But don't worry, it won't hit the Earth. There is a probability that the asteroid we're talking about, will come closer to Earth in the year 2031, 2042, 2068 and 2079. In 16th April, 2079, this asteroid (yes, the same one), it'll come a little bit more closer than previous. The distance will be about 0.01184 AU between the Earth and the asteroid then.

This post is just to inform you about the asteroid as there are so many rumors.
Happy reading.
